Is it one app or several?
One download for parents, staff, gatekeepers and visitors.
One app. Parents, staff, gatekeepers and visitors all download the same GatePass. When you first open it you say which you are, and the app becomes that — a gatekeeper goes straight to scanning, a parent to their children, a visitor to asking for a visit.
Schools do their setting-up in a web console on a computer rather than on a phone, because importing a roll and printing cards does not fit on a handset. Admins and Bursars work there.
What is GatePass, exactly?
What it does on a school day, in plain terms.
What does it cost?
One price per term by student numbers, and a full term free first.
Is the price the same everywhere?
Local currency, local price, and what happens if your country is not listed.
How do we pay?
Mobile money, bank transfer or card — and when the invoice arrives.
What do we need to buy?
A phone at the gate and printed cards. That is the list.
Does it work when the internet is down?
The gate keeps scanning. Nothing is lost.
Who can see our school’s data?
Your staff by role, parents for their own children, and nobody else.
How long does it take to get running?
About an hour of work, most of it waiting for cards to print.
Can we use more than one gate?
As many as you have, each with its own phone.
