Run an emergency roll-call
Accounting for everyone on school grounds — including visitors and children away on a trip.
Starting a roll-call gives every member of staff who is taking one the same list: the people who should be accounted for, split into those who have been and those who have not.
- 1Start the roll-call, and choose its scope — the whole school, the boarders, or particular classes.
- 2Staff mark the people in front of them as they count. Everyone sees the same live picture.
- 3The names still unaccounted for stay on the screen until somebody deals with them.
- 4End the roll-call. What happened, and when, is kept.
Visitors currently on school grounds are on the list, because they are people you are responsible for. Children away on a trip are on it too, shown as away with that trip rather than dropped from the count.

Did this not answer it? Tell us what happened — we would rather fix the guide than answer the same question twice.
