Import your students from a spreadsheet
What the columns mean, and what to do when rows are rejected.
Download the template from the import screen rather than building your own file. The column names are what the importer matches on.
The columns that matter
- Name — one column, as you want it to appear on the card and on a parent’s phone.
- Class — must match a class you already created, exactly.
- Student ID — yours, not ours. If you leave it blank we generate one.
- Guardian phone — this is the one that matters most. A student with no guardian phone has nobody to notify when they arrive.
When rows are rejected
The importer brings back a list of the rows it could not use, with the row number and the reason. The usual causes are a class name that does not match one of yours, or a phone number in a format we cannot read. Fix those rows in your file and upload it again — the students that already imported are not duplicated.
