Passwords — setting, changing and resetting
For staff, for parents, and what to do when somebody is locked out.
Staff
Staff sign in with one field — a phone number, an email address or a staff ID — plus a password. Any of the three identifiers works, as long as it matches the record.
- 1Forgotten it? Choose Forgot password on the sign-in screen and follow what is sent to you.
- 2Changing it while signed in: open your own account settings and choose Change password.
- 3Still locked out? An Admin should check the account is still active — a deactivated staff member is refused, and is not told why.
Parents
A parent signs in the first time with a code sent by SMS to the number the school holds. They can then set a password so they are not sent a code every time. If they forget it, they sign in with a code again and set a new one — a parent is never locked out of seeing their own child.
Never share one staff account between people. Every action is recorded against the account that did it, and a shared account makes the record useless exactly when you need it.
Sign your school up
Starting a free term, and what you need to hand before you begin.
Use more than one account on one phone
A parent who also teaches, or two people sharing a handset.
Work at more than one school
One account, several schools, and how to tell which one you are looking at.
Add a staff member, or remove one who has left
Giving someone access, and taking it away the same day they leave.
