Registers and attendance
Correct an attendance record
Records cannot be edited. Here is how a correction is made instead.
An attendance record is never changed in place. This is deliberate: a register that can be quietly rewritten is not evidence of anything, and if a parent ever asks what happened on a particular morning, you need an answer that holds up.
Instead, you record a correction. The original stays, the correction sits on top of it, and both carry the name of who made them and when.
- 1Open the student’s record and find the day.
- 2Choose Correct this record.
- 3Pick what actually happened, and give the reason.
- 4Save. The register now shows the corrected value, and the history shows both.
The reason is not busywork. It is what makes the record defensible a term later, when nobody remembers the morning.
