Parents expect the school to know who is inside the gate — pupils, staff and visitors — and to be able to show it. A school that records arrivals and visitors properly signals that it takes safety seriously, long before anything goes wrong.

Modern parents expect to be told, not to have to ask. Their child arrived, left, was sent home. A notice about Friday's closing time. The trip next week. Arriving on their phone, in plain words, when it happens.
